30 Comments on “RuPaul Revealed: ‘Drag Race’ Host Talks Gay Rights”

  1. WATCH: RuPaul talks about the current state of LGBT rights and reveals he’s
concerned the positive momentum the community has been enjoying in recent
years could change direction in the future.

  2. Interesting short interview with RuPaul, someone who I knew little about.
Astute mind, smart observation about the TV show Bewitched.

  3. We must not give into historical myopya: there have been wildly open times
since the beginning of history that were all eventually replaced by
narrower social and moral norms. Newly acquired gay rights may not be
revoked in the future but the pendulum always swings. Only it does so in a
    different place every time.

  4. RuPaul – authentic – talented – creative – intelligent – fascinating –
    ‘fearless’ of course!

  5. Rupaul has touched on the most important issue that is beyond gay marriage.
The acceptance of effeminacy in men and women. Even the gay community can
be so vile in judgement. ‘It’s all about acceptance. It’s all about you
knowing every body you sit across from is a different aspect of yourself.’

  6. Everyone should defend minority groups because, in one way or another,
    everybody is a minority.

  7. I would never “dumb down to fit in” That’s a horrible thing to do. I have
way too much going for me, and way too much intelligence to throw out just
to make lost ‘insiders’ happy. Fuck them bitches! xoxo *-*

  8. The young people are so lucky thanks to Rupal and our generation . I’m so
proud to have lived to see how much things have changed for the better . I
    think the progression will continue

  9. There were activists before Rupaul. There will be activists after. In a
sense, Rupaul is an activist. His message reaches a wider audience because
he uses a kinder voice. We need both types of activism. Without Daughters
of Bilitis, Mattachine Society, & marches in Philadelphia, there wouldn’t
have been Stonewall. Without Stonewall, there’d be no Pride Day. Pride is
the opposite of Shame. THAT is the point. We should be proud of our
survival in the face of those who would see us exterminated.

  10. What ever ur uses on his face when he’s in drag makes him look like hes 25
omfg ur soooo pretty in drag

  11. I wish Drag Race was on a bigger/more accesible cable channel…dont get
logo! : ( Love the watching the RACE though!

  12. No matter what there will always be people who are marginalized, not matter
if it’s gay people are another group, it takes a lot of thoughtfulness to
keep society completely open and diverse. So don’t think it can’t happen
again. And if it’s not your group, or community, but you know what it’s
like to be discriminated against then it’s your job to speak up for those
who have no voice whoever that may be.

  13. I love RuPaul! A lot of women do. The idea of self inventing into someone
we’d like to be is amazing to women. He demonstrates a process, as opposed
to just holding up the impossible to taunt and shame us with.
