Will you be in central London over Pride in London weekend? You’re probably already going to check out the parade or entertainment in Trafalgar Square. England’s capital is packed with other events, exhibitions and pop-up Pride celebrations. Here’s just a few you might want to consider visiting.
Pay-what-you-can-afford haircuts
Want a new haircut for Pride? South London hairdressers Tuttii Fruitti (pictured top) will be taking over this Gallery space on the Southbank on the morning of Saturday 6 July. You can pay what you want for your makeover from these self-described ‘clown therapists’, with proceeds going to equal rights charity, Stonewall. The salon will run from 9am to 1pm Saturday on a first-come, first-served basis.

Drag Brunch at Dalston Superstore
The beloved East London LGBTI venue will be serving drag nonsense, gorgeous breakfast cocktails and brunch specials on 6 and 7 July. Whether you need the stamina to march on Saturday or need to recover from a bad hungover on Sunday morning, they’ve got you covered.

Kiss My Genders at the Hayward Gallery (for free!)
The big summer exhibition at the Hayward Gallery on the Southbank is Kiss My Genders. The show is an exploration of how trans and non-binary people have been captured by artists and photographers over the last 50 years.
The inspiring show features work by Ajamu, Del LaGrace Volcano, Kent Monkman, Planningtorock and Peter Hujar, among many others. Tickets normally cost £15.50, but just on Pride in London day itself (6 July), admission will be free! This is a great opportunity to see an amazing show for nothing.

Queer Carnaby Street
Twelve London-based queer artists showcase their work at pop-up exhibition and store ‘Creative Pride: Loud. Proud. Now‘ on London’s iconic Carnaby Street.
Check out work from Dominic Evans, Ashton Attzs, Fredrik Andersson and Cressida Djambov, among others. The show runs until 8 July only, with 10% of sales going to LGBTI seniors charity Opening Doors London. (ODL itself, aimed at the over 50s LGBTI communities, hosts tea and cake at St Anne’s in Soho from 2-5pm on Pride Saturday.)

Queer Frontiers
More queer art in Soho, this time just off Old Compton Street. Queer Frontiers is a fundraising art sale run by London art agency ARTIQ. Proceeds go Switchboard and akt.
It will feature established names such as Italian photographer Paolo Raeli and artist Teo Robinson, and work from upcoming artists such as Jamie Luke Scoular. It runs 4-10 July (between 3-5pm on Saturday 6 July and 10am-5pm on Sunday 7 July). Admission is free.

John Lewis
No, we’re not telling you to go shopping. John Lewis Oxford Street has a fantastic rooftop al fresco dining area. It sits above the Pride parade route. They’ve even erected rainbow flags in honor of Pride and will be hosting cabaret on Saturday (6 July) from Britain’s Got Talent’s Sheila Simmonds and hula-hoopist Storm Hooper, drag queen Aria Knightly.
The store promises bespoke cocktails and Bobbi Brown Pride makeovers. Charitable donations will be collected throughout the day for homeless charity, akt.

Trafalgar St. James
Looking for a glitzy, aerial view of the Pride proceedings? Nothing beats the Rooftop terrace at the Trafalgar St. James, which actually overlooks Trafalgar Square. On Pride day it’s hosting a Bottomless Brunch Pride Party. There will be free-flowing bottomless Prosecco or Mimosas and a main course of food. Given its premium location, it’s not a cheap option though, costing £45 for a two-hour sitting (12-2pm or 2-4pm).

QTIPOC Pride Party on the Southbank
The wonderful outdoor terrace in front of the Southbank will be hosting at QTIPOC (Queer, Transgender and Intersex People of Colour) Pride Party presented by Pxssy Palace in collaboration with BBZ (Bold Brazen Zamis or Babes). It will run from 5pm till 1am, with free entry to all.

Icons Ball ft. Melanie C at Troxy
This Pride season Sporty Spice has teamed up with Sink The Pink, queer purveyors of quality entertainment in the capital. Mel C and the iconic LGBTI collective will join efforts for this official Pride afterparty.
Following the success of the Spice Girls reunion tour, the singer will perform alongside drag Spice Girls at Troxy in East London on 6 July.

Debbie does Pride 2019
LGBTI venue Eagle London will host a special Debbie night for Pride on 6 July. The event is open to all LGBTI people and allies and only has one rule: every bop for the night will be provided by female musicians and pop stars. Expect hits from the likes of Madonna, Gaga, Ariana Grande and obviously the one and only Debbie Harry aka the lead singer and founder of Blondie.

Lez Pride
Leave toxic masculinity at the door at this party primarily aimed at queer cis and trans women and non-binary people. A stone’s throw away from Pride in London’s Women Stage in Soho, Lez Pride has a Coyote Ugly theme. Tattoo model and studio owner Arabella Drummond will perform.

Urban World Pride
Urban World regularly brings together some of the biggest club promotions on the LGBTI urban and world music scenes. This includes Bootylicious, BiBTi London, Lush and Queer Nation. The mega Pride party takes over the Scala in King’s Cross and will feature 20 DJs, MCs and hosts. Three distinct areas will offer urban, desi and house sounds. It runs from 9pm-6am on Pride night (6 July).

Odd Balls Bingo Diva Special
Look, we get it. You’ve been to Pride, you’ve probably hit an afterparty, or perhaps more than one. On Sunday you just want to have a nice lie-in, but how about crawling out of bed for a contemporary bingo game? Dave The Bear, Crystal Lubrikunt and The Folly Mixtures will take over Shoreditch’s Dabbers Social Bingo calling exclusively odd numbers and celebrating female LGBTI icons at each round.

UK Black Pride afterparty
Following this year’s UK Black Pride taking place at Haggerston Park in East London on 7 July, celebrations will move to Hackney’s Village Underground. The official afterparty will see performers from popular queer clubs of the capital plus black and brown DJs spinning records until late.
